Introduction
  Our laboratory researches various water environmental issues as follows;
    - Heat and water transport mechanism between cities and the atmosphere
    - Investigation of the atmospheric environment
    - Research on hydrological cycle in urban areas
    - Analysis of flood phenomena

Research on heat and water transport mechanism between cities and the atmosphere
   In order to solve the atmospheric environmental problems in urban areas such as the heat island and air pollution, it is important to understand the mechanism how heat, water, and pollutants which are exhausted from urban areas are transported into the atmosphere, and control it.
   Especially, the atmospheric turbulence caused by the existence of building greatly affects the transport of heat and water, however ,the feature has not been understood yet.
   Our laboratory makes a lot of field observations and numerical simulations to achieve better understanding to pursue an ideal urban form for the atmospheric environment.

Research on the city planning using the ventilation path
   Recently, it becomes the topic to make“Ventilation path" by controlling the building arrangement and the road shapes, etc. It aims to let the cool wind flow from suburbs , prevent the heat island phenomena and create a good ventilation city.
   Matsuyama City lies in a good geographic condition which can receive the influence of cold breeze from mountains and the sea as it is surrounded by the hill, mountainous district, and the sea.
   Our laboratory researches the possibility to make "Ventilation path" in Matsuyama City, and will propose the better city planning that can reduce air pollution and the heat island phenomena to the minimum.

Research on analysis of flood phenomena in urban areas
   When localized torrential rain is generated in urban areas, water overflows from drainage, and flows along the roads. Moreover,the flood from the river might happen.
   We aims to accurately simulate the flood phenomena by numerical simulation. It is useful to prepare the hazard map, evacuation behavior plan and so on.
